COKE AND OBAMA

June 24th, 2009

We all see commercials constantly. Some avoid them, many actually enjoy them when well done. They can be quite entertaining. Whether we like them or hate them it is obvious they work. It is what keeps the TV, radio and now the Internet funded partially if not more so. Commercials and ads sell. Proof of this is in what they cost. A 30 second spot during the Superbowl cost 2.7 million in 2008 and the starting price in 2009 was reported to be 3 million. No one knows the power of ads better than Obama.

Obama won the primary and the presidency through a strong presence on the screen. He had 800,000,000 to spend on his campaign. McCain had 300,000,000. It is interesting to note Obamas’ campaign spent nearly 3 times as much as McCains’ the votes were roughly 55-45. Obamas’ speeches are carefully written by talented writers. ABC now broadcasts from the white house. GE you owns NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC is in his back pocket. GE lobbies for bailout money, and will receive tax dollars through the “CAP AND TRADE” tax. A tax that IN Obamas’ own words “will necessarily make energy costs skyrocket”.

Early in the 20th century soft drink companies were popping up everywhere. Coke new the importance of advertising. They spent large sums of money on putting there name everywhere. Coke originally had cocaine in it. It seems logical this magical ingredient lead to a large budget. Coke furnished signs to small business’ across the country. If you take a road trip you will see some of these signs posted on old buildings. Coke provided pencils and tablets with there logo to the public schools. They monopolized the back cover of National geographic and many others magazines.

Coke had deep pockets. The smaller drink companies couldn’t compete. They folded. Due to a big advertising budget most of the consumers never tasted the competition. Quality, taste, and value took a back seat to promotion. Are ads, TV shows, a blitzkrieg of speeches and catch phrase appropriate in politics. McCain asked Obama if he would agree to limiting their campaigns to the national funding for there presidential race. Obama never responded. Do we want a smooth speech maker or someone more transparent to be in the white house. Do we want public servants that spin any subject or tell us the truth. Personally I would prefer a man of patriotic substance that stumbles through speaking engagements over a polished smooth talking Rock Star.

Next time you hear Obama or any of his posse remember, the proof is in the pudding. We can’t eat the box. Does his words match his actions. We have all heard,”look at what he inherited”. The truth is he did more to create the housing crisis while working with acorn, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Than he will admit. Look it up. He was paid off by Fannie and Freddie for his involvement with them. Don’t take my word for it and don’t take theirs. Do your homework.

Thank you for your submission. I appreciate you checking us out. I will be writing an article on the media and the public focus. As most people with a brain can see Jacko was an awesome talent. I remember a couple of classmates back in what must have been 1970 playing ABC on a little record player they brought to class. Michaels’ family is in my prayers.

While I think we should remember and honor him for what he did for culture and bridging many gaps I also think we should not forget to focus on important issues that threaten the liberty that gave Michael the freedom to do his thing. While the media was capitalizing on his death the senate was passing what will be the biggest tax on Americans in our history. Not only will it attack our wallet directly it will cost millions of jobs. “CAP AND TRADE” will raise prices on everything that depends on power to make or transport to the consumer. That covers everything in one way or another. Lets honor Michael, lets pray for his family and friends, and lets call our congressman and stop a bill that will threaten our life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Michael would never have flourished as he did without our leisure and the funds we used for entertainment. Everyday our Federal government is taking steps to empty our wallets directly and indirectly. So many Americans are so busy trying to survive through this spiraling economy we don’t have the time much less the money to support the arts that helped make Michael realize his dream.

Well, donward, although I agree with your overall points, I must comment on your commenting concerning MJ. Yes, he was a great entertainer. Did his life and achievements justify the coverage and tribute he has been receiving? He deserves a small fraction, at best. Ed McMahon was war hero from WWII, long before he was Johnny Carson’s sidekick. When he died a week or two prior to MJ, he got a few blurbs the day he died and maybe the next day. What a joke the media has become. And it reflects VERY poorly on what American’s concern themselves with.
