TO REGULATE OR NOT TO REGULATE

May 21st, 2010

Watching a story on Fox news about Laura Jackson compelled me to write this post. Laura suffered a broken neck while participating in a cheer-leading event. She is paralyzed from the neck down. I will pray for her and I encourage all to do the same. The story was about regulating cheer-leading in our schools. I believe in self regulation. The government has little business regulating us from ourselves. I heart goes out to Laura. My heart goes out to all victims of such accidents. Conversely I must show another side to regulation. All to often the government regulates to protect us from ourselves. They also use our well being as an excuse for a power grab.
Can’t the individual schools make their own rules. They have eyes and brains just like Government. What of the parents, or the students themselves. We are giving the politicians too much power and way to much credit for their abilities. In this case it may do some good, however, it sets a precedent too gain control. They gain control then use it to promote an agenda we don’t see right away. The end result can damage far more than it protects.
They key is too discipline ourselves and to educate each other on topics that can save each other from our lack of knowledge. I appreciate your thoughts on this topic. Please comment. We also need fresh thoughts and post on many topics. Post via the link at the top of this page. No email addresses will be sold or used for purposes of spamming.

It’s clear that these goverment officials have lost sight of just what their job really is. Since when did regulating school gyn class, cheer leading , foot ball or any of these activies become their job. They need to be fired for not knowing what their job requirements are. Then they can persue a job as cheerleader coach, hall monitor , playgroung patrol etc.
